To progress to Formula 1, the ultimate goal of any driver racing in Formula Renault 3.5 Series, it is not enough just to prove your worth on the track. Drivers must also become acclimatized to the rarefied atmosphere of the class. Through two joint-run programmes, Renault Sport Technologies and Renault F1 Team give drivers a very real taste of the world of F1 while providing further evidence of the crucial role played by Formula Renault 3.5 Series as a gateway to the top rung of motorsport.
The first stage at Monza on Thursday, October 9, coincides with the Italian F1 Grand Prix as five drivers are welcomed by the Renault F1 Team. They will be given a close-up of the Renault F1 Team’s organization during a Grand Prix, visiting the pits and chatting to the team’s managers, engineers and drivers. Robert Kubica, winner of the 2005 Formula Renault 3.5 Series, will also be there to share his experience with his successors. The five drivers will also be given free access to the paddock allowing them to meet F1’s decision makers.
The second session will be held directly following the Silverstone meeting of the World Series by Renault. On Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 September, all the drivers will converge on Enstone for two days of training at the very heart of Renault F1 Team. Renault F1 Team Principal, Éric Boulier, will welcome the drivers with a Q&A session. After an in-depth visit to the Technical Center and Digital Aerodynamics Center (CFD), which boasts the most up to date technologies in fluid dynamics, the guests will be given the benefit of the team nutritionist’s insight before undergoing a series of physical tests.

Inside Line gives you the inside read to what it is that can keep a driver in his seat and successful. To be the best, to be consistent and to follow in the footsteps of former champions may cause a driver to have high expectations and pressure to perform week in week out. When you are racing, you do not want to have these high expectations or pressure when you are driving at 200-300kmph.
This month’s focus is on anxiety, stress and the pre-race performance jitters, otherwise known as performance arousal.
Rocky and I will provide simple explanations, examples and techniques you can adopt to perform in your “ideal state”.
August 3, 2010 (IRVINE, Calif.). With thousands of active club racers across North America, Mazda has developed a grassroots racing program and career advancement system like no other. Mazda is the only automaker who promotes drivers from a variety of feeder series to reach the next level in their career. This is known as the MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development Ladder, and no other automaker in the world offers anything like it.
Mazda rewarded six 2009 champions with Mazda-funded rides in 2010, and sights are already being set for 2011. This is support in the form of cold-hard-cash, for a champion or shootout winner, to be used in a Mazda-powered car, in a higher level series the following season.
“When we formalized our program for the 2006/2007 season, we quickly learned that changes would be required each year to match the changes in the industry and the sport. While the Atlantic Championship went on hiatus and rules changes obsoleted our World Challenge program, we have seen the addition of a Formula 2000 class, the adoption of Star Mazda and USF2000 as a part of the Road to Indy, and experienced tremendous growth in our customer programs in both Grand-Am GT and Continental Tire ST creating new opportunities,” noted Robert Davis, Senior Vice President, Product Development and Quality, and the man responsible for Mazda’s North American motorsports operations under the MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development banner. “Success has also come from having great partners like VISITFLORIDA.com, who have placed our key Star Mazda races on TV such as this past weekend when Harrah’s Autobahn Grand Prix was shown live on HDNet,” he added.

Jordan Chamberlain, Mark Litchfield and Tom Grice were the Kartmasters 1-2-3 and will take their prize drives at the end-of-season Formula Ford ‘sampler day’.
“I am sure that Jordan, Mark and Tom will have a fantastic time when they get to sample a Formula Ford for the first time,” said championship manager Penny Mattocks. “All three drove brilliantly in the competition and I am sure have long and successful motorsport careers ahead of them.”
Kartmasters, which is organised by the Trent Valley Kart Club, celebrated its 15th anniversary this year.
